SP
and its subsidiaries have achieved
a lot in international operation,
greatly enhanced corporate
development, technology and
management through importing large
amounts of funds, technology,
equipment and managerial
experience, and made China¡¯s
power industry as an important
part in international power
market. After positive
international trading, overseas
project contracting and deploying
labors overseas, SP has greatly
enlarged its international trading
and bi- or multi-lateral
cooperation.
In
2000 SP outlined the strategy of
going overseas, and scheduled
strategic objectives for SP¡¯s
internationalization, in order to
step into international power and
capital markets through various
channels and to gradually build SP
into an influential trans-national
power group.
In
2000 SP signed its first overseas
BOT project in Kampuchea, and
invested to develop power projects
in various countries and areas,
such as Georgia, Vietnam and
Kenya. SP plans to possess
overseas units with 1000 MW
installed capacity within five
years. At present about 50
sub-corporations of SP have rights
of overseas operating, the total
contract value has reached 2
billion US $, and its business
scatters among over 40 countries
and areas in Asia, Africa, Europe,
America and Oceania, covering
designs and constructions in
hydro-power stations, thermal
plants, power transmission and
transformation projects, as well
as construction on highways and
bridges. SP¡¯s subsidiaries have
opened 18 branches or offices in
more than 10 countries and
regions, such as Pakistan and
Thailand. Now SP is going through
formalities to open SP (US)
Corporation, and will establish
liaison agencies in Southeast
Asia, Middle Asia, Europe and
Africa.
SP
has established extensive
exchanges with governmental
responsible departments,
corporations, research institutes
and academic organizations of
various countries and regions.
With frequent exchanges and
cooperation, SP has attended
International Dam Conferences,
International Large Power Grid
Conferences, Global Energy
Conference, International
Electrician Conference, and other
related meetings. SP has signed 36
cooperative agreements, 11
exchange memorandums and 8
understanding memorandums with
concerned parties and corporation
in 19 countries and areas, which
has greatly improved mutual
development of Chinese and foreign
power industries.
SP
will focus on the following
strategies in the future: to
enlarge overseas investment, with
priorities on overseas power
source and power-related projects;
to enhance unified management of
overseas agencies, and to increase
the required investment for SP
overseas branches; to positively
explore international markets of
project contracting, design
consultancy supervision, and
laboring exporting and deploying,
and to strive for national export
credits to promote exports of
domestic technology and
electrical products; to
attempt total contract in the name
of SP; to create the unified brand
of China SP; and to primarily
realize SP¡¯s trans-national
operation.
